  1. Has anyone been to the OCIS consortium? If so, how was your experience?

  2. I have attended before and it was great! I highly recommend it.

For students who are still early in their doctoral program–esp. first year students or second year students who have not attended AOM conference before–there’s also an academy-wide New Doctoral Student’s Consortium that looks interesting.

  3. I have attended last year. It was a really great experience. One and a half day workshop covers not only an academic issues but also non-academic issues that doctoral students face – like how to balance teaching and research as a doctoral student. A round table discussion is very interactive and you can get insightful comments from your mentor and your peers who share similar research interests. I learned from both peer students and senior scholars…It’s highly recommendable.

  4. Sounds good so far. I am still in my first year and as far as I understood, the seminar would be good for students who are in the early stages of their programs. However, they say that you should be working on your dissertation to apply and even ask you for a 5 pages description of your thesis. Are there any chances to even get in? Have they changed their target audience?
