CFP: 2008 AOM Conference

As a reminder, the deadline for the 2008 AOM Conference submission is Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
If you are a student and submit a paper with all student authors (or, you are the only author!), be sure to choose the submission option saying you are eligible for student awards.
If you are submitting a solo-authored paper based on a recently completed dissertation, look into the qualification critiera for the awards — there’s one there just for you, too!

  1. OMG, why oh why do the submission instructions ask for tables and figures to come last with “TABLE 2 about here”.

We are not operating with typewriters and bromides, for heaven’s sake.

This is basically violence against the reviewers, forced to loose the thrust of the paper while flicking to tables tucked away at the back of the paper 🙂

Can anyone think of a valid reason for this nonsense in this day and age? Could we all take a pledge never to ask for this when we write calls for papers?

(of course there is a place at the end for appendices like survey items or coding schemes)

  2. I could not agree more.

Well maybe I could. There’s that bromide bit. As I’m not sure what one is, I’m cautious about weighting in one way or another on that part. 😉

As a reader/reviewer, I hate having to turn to the end of a paper to find a table or figure. I’ve no defense for the archaic practice.
